Loch Venachar is situated in the heart of the beautiful Trossachs region of central Scotland and has become the jewel in the crown for Scottish brown trout fishing.

Loch Venachar has many colonies of wild Brown Trout. Some are golden brown in appearance or silver with large red spots. The Brown Trout feed on a wide variety of insects both aquatic and terrestrial and the loch's habitat provides excellent food for the population. Although Brown Trout are particularly well known for being selective, they do readily take various artificial fly patterns.

The loch holds a large native population, these are the future mature stocks of Loch Venachar and we supplement the natural juvenile fish by introducing large numbers of pre-yearling trout. By adopting this policy these young fish settle in to their new environment more successfully than older, mature-stocked fish.
