The stock enhancement policy over many years has created an strong, indigenous trout population.

The trout fishing in particular, is excellent and you couldn’t be in more unspoilt, scenic surroundings, with Ben Ledi overlooking the north shore and Ben Venue to the west.

In recent years the number of Sea-Trout and Salmon being caught has significantly increased.

Pike fishing on Loch Venachar is also famous for its large hard fighting fish. The last year has seen a big increase in the popularity of the Loch for Pike angling. Many fish in the 20-30lb range have been landed recently and some even larger.

Loch venachar
Loch Venachar, Trossachs

Loch Venachar is around 6km long and 1km wide with about 1000 acres of water and is sited just to the west of Callander. Bank and boat fishing is permitted on the loch, with the best results from a boat.

Fishing is available from our boats or from designated parts of the Loch shore. Our boats are all fitted with Yamaha 4hp four stoke engines and equipped with landing nets. Most trout anglers enjoy the superb conditions for fly fishing but other methods are permitted too. Boat fishing allows both Pike and Trout anglers to reach all parts of this beautiful water.

The loch provides many ideal and interesting bays to fish. At its western end long uninterrupted drifts can be achieved, casting into a depth of 6 to 8 feet - great conditions for Brown Trout. There is an abundance of invertebrate life providing good feeding for fish.
