The fish stock is managed with the introduction of only native species and the stocking policy over many years has created an excellent, indigenous trout population.

The trout fishing in particular, is excellent and you couldn’t be in more unspoilt, scenic surroundings, with Ben Ledi overlooking the north shore and Ben Venue to the west.

In addition to the large population of wild Brown Trout, we introduce a stock of 1.25lb+ brownies per season. The Brownies are free rising and well over 1lb.

In recent years the number of Sea-Trout and Salmon being caught has significantly increased.

Loch Venachar is also famous for its large hard fighting Pike and many Trout and Salmon fly fishers are enjoying the growing and very exciting sport of fly fishing for Pike.

Loch venachar
Loch Venachar, Trossachs

Loch Venachar is around 6km long and 1km wide and is sited just to the west of Callander. Bank and boat fishing is permitted on the loch, with the best results from a boat.

Fishing from our boats for brown trout is by fly only. Most of our boats are now fitted with Yamaha 4hp four stoke engines and equipped with landing nets. Bait and spinning is still permitted from some bank fishing areas.

The loch provides many ideal and interesting bays to fish. At its western end long uninterrupted drifts can be achieved, casting into a depth of 6 to 8 feet - great conditions for Brown Trout. There is an abundance of invertebrate life providing good feeding for fish.
